CITIES HONOR NORTHWEST CHILDREN’S FUND

In recognition of fighting child abuse and neglect in the Puget Sound Region for the past 25 years, the Cities of Seattle and Renton proclaimed April as Child Abuse Prevention month in NWCF’s honor. Northwest Children’s Fund has focused on healing abused children, helping at-risk youth and strengthening fragile families since 1985.

To date, Northwest Children’s Fund has distributed nearly $10 million dollars to end child abuse and neglect by supporting programs for at-risk children and their families.

In addition to stating that all kids deserve safe, healthy homes in which to grow up, it states that research shows that for every dollar spent on child abuse and neglect prevention and intervention our state saves many times that amount on after-the-fact expenses such as protective services, counseling, criminal justice and special education.

The proclamations encourage residents to support all children’s physical, emotional and spiritual development and to help end child abuse and neglect by supporting at-risk youth and fragile families at every opportunity.
